  • Some reasons to blog

I've found it hard to blog recently; bloggers block. There are some things that I just want to keep private.

So here is something useful and I hope that there's some godo advice for me in here: http://bacatu.blogspot.com/2008/12/business-case-for-blogging.html

  • Football results: a coincidence

The Premiership had a strange set of results this weekend. None of the top 4 won and on Saturday no one in the top half of the table won. A couple of weeks back Wenger blamed the champions league on a poor set of results. Was it the international break that derailed the top 4? Certainly they will be most affected by the international fixtures with fewest people left behind to train.

Let's compare it to other countries. In Spain Italy and France, only 1 of the top 4 won. Germany was the exception with three of the top 4 winning - but I bet they had fewer players on international duty.

    FIFA - sort it out.

    France

    Lyon lost 1-0
    Nice won 1-0
    Marseilles drew 2-2,
    Rennes drew 1-1

    Spain

    Barcelona drew 1-1
    Real Madrid won 1-0
    Villareal lost 3-0
    Valencia drew 0-0

    Germany

    Hoffenheim won 3-1
    Leverkusen lost 2-1
    Munich won 4-1
    Hertha won 3-2

    England

    Chelsea drew 0-0
    Liverpool drew 0-0
    Man Utd drew 0-0
    Aston Villa drew 0-0

    Italy

    Inter won 1-0
    AC drew 2-2
    Juventus lost 1-0
    Napoli drew 2-2

  • 22% VAT

I received some really kind advice to my last post about what to blog about. In light of those, I didn't think, therefore, that my next post would be about the budget.

I've read over the last couple of days that one option open to Gordon Brown is to decrease taxes now only to increase them more when the economy gets better. That makes sense to me. If I need money now, I borrow it to pay it back later. So the government should be able to do the same.

However, if we know that tax rises are coming, will the tax cuts now actually stimulate the economy at all, or will we hold it back for the tax rises later.

And VAT at 22%? What do you think of that? It's a massive, massive increase on everyone and almost all goods, not just more wealthy people.

  • The hardest thing about blogging

I've just read a great article about the art of blogging. It was really interesting but it didn't address my central question. After three days in the business, my main question is: how do you find new material every day?

I don't want to blog banal thoughts (this notwithstanding) so how does an 'ordinary Joe' find new content each day? Any advice?

  • Hi

I've started blogging as part of a bet with friends I met on holiday. We have to see who can get bigger, quickest and who stay's the course.

There's a penalty for who becomes the biggest geek first - but I can't tell you what!! Hee Hee!
